About
The older I get, the harder a ‘short’ bio is. I was born and raised in Houston in the UMC, but left for a bit in my experimental Baptist years. I have studied piano/vocal performance, psychology, anthropology, religion and ancient European history in college… to no avail. I have been in vocational ministry for 10 years working as a youth director, contemporary musician, children’s ministries, young adults, college students, Christian coffee shop, and any number of things over the years. I am passionate about getting other people inspired by God and expelling the myth that God calls us to just sit around and feel good. There is work to be done, so let’s get going!

I Was Born… I was born in Houston the same day that a massive hurricane hit Hawaii. A prelude to greater things? I think so!
On the way to church the other day… I made it all the way from my house to the church without hitting a pot hole! I am thinking of training for NASCAR. Their route is easier. Just veer one direction in a circle for a few hundred laps.
My biggest challenge is… Bi-polarism. No really. All joking aside, I am never sure how the day is going to look. Sitting through meetings jittering from too much energy, or falling asleep from a lack thereof. Working a marathon 16 hour day and having more than enough umph to cook/clean and party when I get home, or having to take a three hour nap to get through a two hour work day. I guess it works out well, though, because I would get bored with life if it ever became predictable!
My favorite Bible verse is… Romans 12:1- “Therefore, brothers [and sisters], offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to Christ. This is your spiritual act of worship.” -translated by Ben’s mind trying to memorize something
The one thing I want people to realize when they come to Bellaire UMC is… We are not perfect and never will be, but we are going to try our hardest to work that direction., and don’t consider that futility.
My favorite children’s book is… Euphonia and the Flood… if it is still in print. “If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well!”
My last meal would be… Momma’s pork chops with potatoes au gratin. Or brisket. Or a ham. or anything from Fogo d’Chow. Hmm…. I’m hungry.
