Going Green

We’ve all heard the term “going green.”  In fact, the term is used so often, when its a misnomer it’s now called “greenwashing.”  But for us at Bellaire UMC, going green is about being a good steward of the world that God has entrusted to all of us.  Green choices model and promote sustainable practices both individually and collectively, and Bellaire UMC is playing its part:

Paper
We have recycling boxes around the building – including ones located near our worship areas – ready to collect your paper products.

Retired Cell Phones and Equipment
The Community Services Ministry collects these items for the Houston Women’s Center to help victims of domestic violence.  The collection box is located in the church’s copy room in the main office area.

Printer Cartridges
Laser or injet, black or color – the Audio/Visual Ministry collects these used items in the Fellowship Hall.  Alternatively, you can take your used toner or ink cartridges directly to Cartridge World by Whole Foods and tell them that you are recycling for Bellaire UMC.  We earn credit for everyone that turns in used supplies.

Box Tops for Education
Look for the 10¢ Box Tops coupon on hundreds of your favorite products and bring them in to the church.  The Community Services Ministry passes these on to Cunningham Elementary who can turn them in for additional funds for their school!

Used Devotionals
The Community Services Ministry gathers these for the women’s division of the Harris County Jail System.
