About Us

For more than 50 years, the School for Little Children has provided quality early childhood education to young children through this ministry of Bellaire United Methodist Church.

NAEYC Accredited
The School for Little Children has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Youth Children (NAEYC) since 1987. NAEYC is the world’s largest organization of early childhood educators. Its accreditation system was established to raise the quality of early childhood education and help families identify high-quality early childhood programs.  While the accreditation process is comprehensive, the focus is on quality interactions among staff and children and a curriculum that is based on child development research.

The School for Little Children offers a number of different programs to suit the needs of different families.

Curriculum
School for Little Children offers a play-based curriculum that fosters children’s development in the areas of cognitive, social, emotional, physical and spiritual growth.  Classrooms are set up in learning centers and children are free to move from center to center throughout the morning.  The schedule includes circle time, a 45-minute playground period and a weekly visit from a music teacher.  An ancillary literacy teacher and an outdoor education teacher enhance our preschool curriculum.
