Asian-American Congregation
Many colors, one faith.
In the Asian-American congregation, we pride ourselves on including all of God’s children as a part of our family, regardless of their background. We draw on the richness of our Filipino culture, lifting our hands and voices to God in worship every week. Our worship style is at once filled with the comfort of traditional practice and contemporary style.
Two Congregations, one family
Though we are a distinct congregation, we are happily part of the Bellaire UMC family of faith and worship with them on Unity Sundays throughout the year. As a part of the greater Bellaire UMC family, our Filipino heritage adds new color and texture to the tapestry of our Christian lives together. Music plays a huge role in our heritage, and we celebrate it with our choir, a youth college praise band, our children’s choir and through dance.
Everything is cause for celebration
We are a family who worships, fellowships and serves together, sharing many facets of our lives. From the celebration of weekly worship (which we follow with lunch) to small groups gathering for fellowship and Bible study, we share our lives just as we share our faith.

The World is Our Mission
Because we believe so strongly in the bond of family, we support those in both the local and global community through mission work and social justice. We affirm our faith in Christ by acting as his hands and feet when we feed the hungry both in Houston (every first Sunday of the month for SEARCH) and abroad (through Jessica’s Table).
We work for the rights of immigrants through both community organizing and spiritual enrichment and reach out to those who may otherwise marginalized, supporting the development of their English language skills with our ESL program. We send prayer visitation teams to visit those who are sick and homebound, both in our immediate congregation and the greater community. We also aid those affected by natural disasters, providing both physical assistance (with emergency supply kits and elbow grease) and spiritual support.
We are constantly expanding our comfort limits, reaching out to new people and places (like El Salvador and the Houston Salvadoran community) bringing both a helping hand and the love of Christ.
